This beautifully hand-crafted early Victorian brooch-pendant from ca 1860 features a bezel set vibrant turquoise blue Zircon measured to weigh approximately 7.7 carats. The Zircon is cut as a round brilliant cut displaying an incredible life and fire. The physical phenomenon of double refraction gives this gemstone its mysterious appearance which enticed Louis Comfort Tiffany to incorporate these stones in his jewelry at the turn of the 20th century. The beautiful and intricate gold work surrounding the Zircon give this brooch a wonderful contrast and three dimensional appearance. A bail on the top of the brooch, which flips down, allows one to also wear it as a pendant.
