French Princely Family Collection Antique Diamond Tiara Can Be Converted into a Necklace or Brooch. A French aristocratic family apparently acquired this spectacular Louis XIV-style Tiara in 1884 as a Bridal Basket gift to a princess. The jeweler who supplied this elegant jewel was Maison Robert Degeresme, founded in 1786, three years before the French revolution. Maison Robert Degeresme was located at 18 Rue Sainte Sulpice, close to the Church of Sainte Sulpice, Paris's second largest church in the city. Sainte Sulpice is the Heavenly Rest of several of the Royal Princesses named Elizabeth Louise, granddaughters of Louis XIV. The Tiara has all the fittings which can convert it into an elegant necklace and the centerpiece into a brooch. The necklace is stamped with French hallmarks and maker marks. The central old cut pear shape diamond measures approximately 0.90 carats, and numerous old-cut and rose-cut diamonds are measured to weigh approximately a total of 14 carats. The necklace is approximately 15.5 inches long. This has survived intact with its original fittings and leather, velvet, and silk fitted case
